Your mission
As a Chief Marketing Officer at GotPhoto you lead the entire Marketing & Sales organization. 
You play a vital role in the company's growth by overseeing all marketing & sales operations of the company and developing its strategy and vision.
As a C-Level and leader of this function, you are a role model for our team and an active, visible Executive of our company within our management team. 

Following points will give you some insight around the main challenges for 2023:
  • We are transitioning from a regional to a functional org structure; as a leader you'll support the teams to transition and develop relevant expertise 
  • We want to automise our B2B acquisition processes, you will need to research and ideate on how to make this possible 
  • We will grow further - you'll therefore support in scaling our business both in EU & US
At the end of the day, we want to ensure we build the best SaaS+ solution in the people photography market.
The GotPhoto SaaS platform helps school photographers streamline their workflow and ensure that they can easily manage large photo shoots and print amazing products their customers want.
GotPhoto is a profitable startup that has been around since 2010.

Our Marketing & Sales Team
The Marketing and Sales team consists of ​19 members at this point (our Head of Marketing is responsible for 7 marketing talents, our VP of Sales is responsible for 10 Sales talents); we're continuing to hire and grow the team. ​
Most of our team are based in Berlin and USA, this role is a fully remote position based in either Germany, Portugal or Spain.
The Management Team is currently fully based in Germany (Berlin).
If you enjoy going to an office then we would love to help you relocate to Berlin, just ask our recruiting team about it when you speak to them.

Your role and responsibilities
You are an essential part of our leadership team, which consists of our CEO, CFO, COO, CTO and Head of People & Culture. We are hiring an additional CPO and (obviously) our CMO :)
As a CMO you will be reporting to our CEO and will be fully responsible for driving our growth strategy and marketing initiatives. 

Below we describe what we’re looking for and how we outline your role:

Marketing & Sales Strategy:
  • You represent and shape the Marketing & Sales strategy; you do so, by making sure relevant stakeholders and our CEO are aligned with your ideas and it buys into the company strategy 
  • You “listen” to the trends of the market and direct the market research efforts of the company. We want to stay ahead of the competition and clearly position ourselves.
  • You liaise our marketing and customer acquisition effort and guide a unified approach that meets market demands. While ensuring they project the company’s unique “voice”.
  • As a strategic thinker, you envision what may happen in the future, instead of focusing on what is directly ahead. You look across different industries to see the big picture, analyze large volumes of information to spot trends, and offer new approaches to old problems.
  • You create a marketing & sales strategy and a detailed roadmap to fulfil and meet various OKRs. You do so, to assure we measure our business growth and build sustainable structures. 
  • You chose a data driven approach backing your vision, strategy and day to day decisions with data generated through GotPhoto or market research and insights.
Inspire & Lead:
  • You act as a role model for our employees and your direct team, by being an ambassador for a healthy and honest company culture. Within GotPhoto and especially the management team, we pay attention to psychological safety and avoid politics.
  • As a CMO you have excellent leadership skills to supervise and oversee the entire Marketing & Sales organization and are well connected within the company. This ensures that initiatives run smoothly across internal teams, customers, and stakeholders.
  • You are an advocate of our service, passionate for your profession and have great knowledge in automising customer acquisition processes. You can balance a practical mindset with a creative business acumen and lead people through complex marketing & sales operations.
  • You are always well connected within the industry and represent our company at conferences and events, to get in touch with partners, customers and leaders within our industry. 
Business & Marketing focus:
  • One of your crucial responsibilities as CMO is to generate revenue by increasing sales through successful marketing for the entire organization. You do so by incorporating market and customer research, pricing methodologies, branding & communication strategies, aligning on product marketing, building market intelligence, addressing the right channels etc.  
  • You oversee the budget and spendings in your function, and make sure they are in line with the company’s financial goals

Skills we are looking for
  • Your 8+ years of professional experience must include a proven tack record of leading marketing teams, ideally in Performance Marketing. Especially the ability to lead through influence across functional and organizational lines is something we want to see. 
  • You need to have strong business acumen and direct experience in growing a business through innovative ideas and solving complex challenges (e.g. addressing new markets / strategy shifts / scaling a company in a sustainable way etc). 
  • As "Marketing automation & Marketing intelligence" will be a clear focus in 2023 and beyond, you should be ready to audit our current structures and able to build a clear roadmap that is guiding our way to achievement. 
  • You are able to interpret market trends, develop your own vision, and successfully execute on that vision.
  • You must enjoy motivating and developing talent to achieve great things. You should have a passion for educating, training, and enabling the confidence of team members to think critically and the skills to develop leaders.
  • You need to be familiar with and have proven experience working cross-functionally with numerous business functions such as Product, Engineering, Operations etc. Also to understand different business disciplines. Remote management experience across different locations is preferred (as our team is based in different locations / time zones)
  • You will interact with partners, customers, and different teams. You should understand and communicate GotPhoto’s value proposition and technology and evangelize GotPhoto to the overall Photography/SaaS industry. Travelling to main conferences or attending speaker slots can be expected.
  • You should be a source of inspiration for the team, hence exceptional knowledge of marketing techniques and sales approaches are a must. 
  • You should have experience in the SaaS industry or even creative and photography industry; To understand our service, customers and competition. If you have experience on the US market, that’s an additional plus.
